Intimacy seen through different eyes
Intimacy is personal. Not only the experience itself, but also how it is captured. In Do You See Me? we referse the roles: the photographer and videographer of Embracing Intimacy are photographed together in various intimate shoots by different photographers. How intimate the shoot and the images become depends highly on the photographer. The level of direction and the feeling of safety during the shoot can greatly influence the final photos. When there is space to express emotion, to show connection, unique images can emerge, which may vary greatly from one shoot to another.

In contrast to I Feel Seen and We Feel Seen the photographer for Do You See Me? has a clear role as a director. Because we created Embracing Intimacy, our vision on intimacy is very clear in every shoot, in every concept that we describe here. In order to show us their vision on intimacy and how to capture it, other photographers will have to direct us to get the images they have in mind.
For us, authenticity always wins over technically perfect but predictable images. After all, photography is not only about technique; it’s also about vision. These shoots are a dance between that vision, reacting to what arises in the moment, and providing clear instructions to create artistic and pure images. As a photographer, you are free to truly express your own vision and creativity.
By having different photographers capture the same duo in photo’s, the different dances that will take place are visualized. This is reinforced by also having a behind-the-scenes camera running during these shoots.

The role of the photographer
The focus within Do You See Me? is on how different photographers capture intimacy in images. What frame do you choose? How do you direct us? Can you capture the images you had in mind on camera? Much experience in photography is not necessary here. The most important criteria are that you must be willing to direct us and that you have a vision on how you want to portray intimacy in images. Let your creativity flow!
We choose the photographers ourselves, and the ownership of the photos remains with Embracing Intimacy. We handle the editing of the photos ourselves and make a selection for exhibitions and other publications. Therefore we cannot guarantee that something will be published from every photographer, but this also means that the focus during the shoot can be entirely on the experience and your creative process. So, if you don’t have much experience with (this type of) photography yet, this could be your chance to gain that experience.
Do you have any questions or are you interested in photographing us? Then please contact us and share your vision.
We have drafted a photographer agreement for all photographers interested in doing a Do You See Me? shoot. A link to this document is provided below.
